Australian_Qualifications_Framework

This qualification reflects the role of workers who provide services to clients in relation to mental health issues. They can provide counselling, referral, advocacy, and education/health promotion services. These workers are required to have high-level specialist knowledge, skills, and competencies, especially in regard to laws affecting people with mental health issues, the range of services available to them, and health issues related to mental health.
To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed at least 160 hours of work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of units of competency.
No licensing, legislative, regulatory, or certification requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.

International Institute of Education has the following entry requirements:

International students must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age and have completed the equivalent of Year 12.
  • Participate in a course entry interview to determine suitability for the course and student needs.
  • Have an IELTS* score of 5.5 (test results must be no more than 2 years old). English language competence can also be demonstrated through documented evidence of any of the following:
  • Educated for 5 years in an English-speaking country; or
  • Completed at least 6 months of a Certificate IV level course in an Australian RTO; or
  • Successful completion of an English Placement Test

*Note that other English language tests such as PTE and TOEFL can be accepted. Students are required to provide their results so that it can be confirmed they are equivalent to IELTS 6

This qualification will be delivered over 104 weeks, including 80 weeks of training and assessment spread over 8 terms and 24 weeks of holidays.

The qualification requires that a work placement of 160 hours will be completed.

The qualification is delivered over 104 weeks comprising of:

  • Eight (8) terms of 10 weeks each (80 weeks total).
  • Holiday breaks amounting to 24 weeks (as specified in the timetable)

Students are required to attend 15 hours of classroom training per week and complete structured self-study of 5 hours per week.

Homework is expected to be approximately 5 hours a week.

The training and assessment schedule shows the weeks during which training is delivered and the assessment conducted for each unit.

The total amount of training provided being structured classroom sessions is 783 hours and for structured self-study is 360 hours. Time scheduled for assessment in class is 297 hours. Homework which is unsupervised and may include research for assessments and general reading is expected to be on average 5 hours a week. 

A work placement of 160 hours is required as per Training Package requirements.

Students may apply for recognition of existing qualifications or skills, knowledge, and experience (credit transfer or recognition of prior learning). The granting of course credit may affect course fees, as well as the duration of the course.

Work Placement arrangements

The unit SITHCCC020 Work effectively as a cook requires that students complete 48 service periods. This amounts to 192 hours based on a four hour service period.

The unit SITHKOP005 Coordinate cooking operations requires that students complete 12 service periods. This amounts to 48 hours based on a four hour service period. This unit may also be completed in the simulated training kitchen.

Prior to commencing the work placement, we will ensure that the workplace has all the facilities and equipment needed and we will also talk to your work placement provider about activities that you will complete.

For our early childhood courses, you are required to have a Working with Children Check which will be at your own cost.

For the CHC30113 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care , you are required to have a Police Check which will be at your own cost.

We will provide you with detailed information about your placement once you start your course with us.
